Matthias Church
I mentioned that there are churches in Buda Castle, which I put in the first place in the list of places to visit in Budapest. I would like to give you some information about the building by referring to one of these churches, the Matthias Church. Matthias Church, which was built in 1015 at the request of the Hungarian King St. Stephen, has a religious and historical importance. The coronation ceremonies of Hungarian kings took place many times in the church. There are many sarcophagi in the Matthias Church, especially the sarcophagus of King Bela. In addition, the replicas of the special clothes worn by the kings at the coronation ceremonies are among the most striking objects in the church.
